Keynote Speaker · Author · Host of The Human Capitalist

Trent Cotton has spent more than 20 years as an HR and talent executive translating complex workforce trends into action that moves business results. He's the author of High Performance Recruiting and Sprint Recruiting, and host of The Human Capitalist podcast, where he brings HR practitioners into unscripted conversations about what's actually working — and what isn't. His third book, FutHRist: The 5 Mindsets of the Future HR Pro, arrives this fall.

Trent's perspective has been featured in Fast Company, Forbes, Business Insider, and HR Executive, and he currently writes for the Fast Company Executive Board. Over the past five years, he's taken the stage at RecFest, Talent42, ERE, HRO Today, RPOA, and Talent Collective, bringing a practitioner's edge to conversations most speakers approach from theory.

Trent doesn't talk about AI in HR from the cheap seats. He's the practitioner voice bookers turn to when they want someone who's actually run the function calling out where the industry gets it wrong — and what to do instead.

The 5 Mindsets of the
Future HR Pro

HR was built for compliance. It wasn't built for what's coming. The FutHRist gives HR leaders five mindsets — the Architect, the Engineer, the Scientist, the COO, and the Coach — and none of them is the "right" one. The mindset your organization needs shifts with the moment; the leaders who stay relevant know how to move between all five instead of leaning on the one they're comfortable with.

This talk breaks down each mindset, then helps the audience build an action plan around the one they're missing — the one they've been hiding behind.

Attendees Leave With
  • A working read on which of the five mindsets their function needs right now — and which one is currently absent
  • An honest diagnosis of which mindset they default to under pressure, and what that's been costing them
  • A first-draft action plan to move HR from an afterthought in the room to the voice the room waits to hear from

Keynote — The 7 Deadly Sins of HR in the Age of AI

A Confession-Friendly Audit

Every HR function is guilty of at least one of these. Most are guilty of three. This is a confession-friendly audit, not a lecture — Trent holds up the mirror, not the finger. Sins as quiet as complacency, as loud as an algorithm making a people call nobody signed off on.

Attendees Leave With
  • An honest read on which patterns their own function is running
  • The fix for the sins that hit closest to home
  • A plan that starts Monday morning — because guilt without a plan is just a bad conference talk

Workshop — The Value of Work Matrix

Stop Doing Work That Doesn't Matter

Most HR teams treat every task like it's equally urgent. It's not. The Value of Work Matrix sorts work on two axes — value to the business, and the human focus it actually demands — and exposes the quadrant most functions won't admit they're living in: high focus, low value. The Danger Zone. Where your best people burn out doing work that barely moves anything.

Attendees Leave With
  • A mapped view of where their own team's work actually falls
  • A clear read on what to automate, what to protect, and what to kill outright
  • A reallocation plan aimed at the 80% of work that should already have leadership's full attention

AI won't fix
broken HR.
It accelerates it.
